Taipei makes it easy to combine very different experiences without spending the day in transit. Historic trading streets, major civic architecture, hot-spring valleys, creative reuse projects, night markets, and close-in hiking sit along a legible MRT network. The city’s value is not only convenience: each layer explains how landscape, migration, commerce, and contemporary culture overlap.

Build one north–south or east–west move into a day, then explore locally. Dadaocheng and Ximending can share an old-city day; Beitou deserves its own northern half-day; Taipei 101 and Elephant Mountain belong to the same skyline story. Keep indoor options such as museums, tea rooms, or creative spaces available when rain arrives.

Carry an EasyCard and some cash, especially for markets. Afternoon heat and sudden rain can move a hike, so protect the route’s logic rather than its exact hour-by-hour order. Official access notices still need a same-day check.
